Software Designer

Shipbuilders, owners and operators are able to optimise the lifetime profitability, safety, reliability and environmental sustainability of their operations by working in close cooperation with us.

Purpose of the position

We are looking for a developer of embedded software for MacGregor world leading shipboard cranes.

As a software designer, you will be part of the R&D team and your role will include development activities such as: requirement analysis, system design, software design, integration, verification, support and product documentation.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

Working in all product development phases from pre-study to end of life:

  • System Design
  • Software Development for Embedded Systems
  • Simulation, scripting and tool automation for software verification
  • Cooperation with other disciplines, such as:
    • Electrical and hydraulic Design
    • R&D-testing
    • Production
    • Suppliers
  • Drive continuous improvements of products and processes

What you need to succeed:

To be successful in this position, we believe you have the following background:

  • Master's or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering Physics or related field
  • Good knowledge about C/C++
  • Experience with code coverage and static analysis tool
  • Experience of release management tools such as Subversion, Jira
  • Passionate about coding and software development
  • Flexible and problem solving with analytical qualities
  • Able to develop and present new and innovative solutions
  • Adapt easily to new techniques and keen to increase knowledge
  • As the position will have many internal and external contacts, good communication skills and proficient of spoken and written English is important.
  • Experience of functional safety, machine vision or simulation modeling is an advantage
